Company description:
Originated as a nutrition project of the Enterprise Bank, Inc. (EBI) in the early part of 1997, Kamayo Mindanao Foundation (KMFI), Inc. was established when the Chairman of the Bank, Mr. Ignacito U. Alvizo chose the malnourished children in Surigao del Sur as beneficiaries of the foundation’s several advocacies.
When a large logging company once operating in Lianga, Surigao del Sur closed down, malnutrition was found to be an endemic problem among farmers and fisher folks who became unemployed.
Enterprise Bank, Inc. formally organized KMFI to distinguish its advocacy programs from purely banking activities to a more diverse programs on nutrition, social, environmental and economic endeavors.
Economic upliftment among the entrepreneurial poor has long been the ultimate goal of the bank. Being actively involved in microfinance, the bank launched its pro-poor program in support for Cebu City Government, and where there is visible need for upliftment among sub-urban poor. Along with the microfinance program of the bank, KMFI offers non-technical building activities such as skills training, staff training, and a number of management development programs for the micro-entrepreneurs.
The Dominican Sisters of the Holy Rosary of Pompei in Surigao del Sur, who are presently running a pre-school program for the community are currently managing KMFI’s nutrition program for the malnourished children. In addition, microfinance technical training activities are being conducted in our Training Center located in Lianga, Surigao del Sur which also acts as a tool in supporting EBI widen its program to hard to reach areas.
The advocacy on environmental protection and conservation has recently been established in collaboration with the Marine Resource Center in Wakat, Barobo, Surigao del Sur being the focal point of partnership with Barobo and Lianga LGUs on the enforcement of Fishery laws, education campaign activities on environment, research for baseline data on micro-fishing, as well as with providing technical and financial services to our recipients.
Our Core Values.
P – Professionalism
A – Active Involvement
C – Compassion
T – Trustworthiness
Our Pledge of Allegiance
“Beyond the numbers and statistics, we commit ourselves to Putting a Human Face to Development through consistent excellence of our performance aspiring to be worthy representatives of the best values and skills of a Development Worker.”
